Step 1: Unboxing and Verifying Your Tangem Cards

  • Unbox with Care: When you receive your Tangem Wallet package, first inspect the packaging for any signs of tampering. Each pack contains two or three sleek, credit card–shaped devices designed to safely store your private keys using an inbuilt secure element chip.
  • Check Authenticity: Confirm that your Tangem cards are new and pristine. If anything appears unusual with the packaging or the cards, contact Tangem support immediately before proceeding.

Step 2: Download and Install the Tangem App

  • Supported Devices: Ensure your smartphone is NFC-enabled. The Tangem App is available for both iOS and Android.
  • Download the App: Visit the Tangem Wallet official page or your mobile device’s app store to download the latest version of the Tangem App.
  • Installation: Follow the on-screen prompts to install the App. Once installed, open the Tangem App to begin your setup.

Step 3: Activating Your Tangem Wallet

  • Initiate Activation: Open the Tangem App and select the option to add or activate a wallet. Hold one of your Tangem cards near your smartphone’s NFC sensor.
  • Follow On-Screen Instructions: The App will automatically detect the card and prompt you to initialize your wallet. Follow the detailed instructions provided. This process securely registers your card and creates your unique wallet without the need for a traditional seed phrase.
  • Personalize Your Wallet: After activation, you may be given the option to add a personalized passcode. Although Tangem’s design emphasizes simplicity, setting an additional security layer can further protect your wallet.

Step 4: Managing Your Tokens and Wallets

  • Adding Tokens: Inside the Tangem App, tap on Manage Tokens to view the list of supported cryptocurrencies. Select the tokens you wish to add and choose the appropriate network. Once done, tap Save Changes to update your wallet’s portfolio.
  • Multiple Wallets: If you plan to use more than one Tangem Wallet (for example, to separate funds), you can add a new wallet by tapping the three-dot menu at the top-right corner and then selecting Add new wallet. Simply scan the next Tangem card to register additional wallets.
  • Switching Between Wallets: To switch between multiple wallets, simply swipe right on the wallet information block in the App. This intuitive feature lets you manage all your wallets effortlessly.

Step 5: Finalizing and Securing Your Setup

  • Review and Confirm: Once your wallet(s) and tokens are added, review your settings to ensure everything is correct. Tangem’s design eliminates the hassle of seed phrases by using secure, NFC-enabled technology, but checking your configurations reinforces your security.
  • Keep Your Cards Safe: Treat your Tangem cards like you would any valuable. Store them in a secure location when not in use and never share them with anyone.
  • Regular Updates: Periodically check the Tangem App for firmware or software updates. Updates ensure your wallet has the latest security enhancements and features.

  • Resetting or Removing a Wallet: If you need to remove a wallet, tap and hold the wallet information block in the App and select Delete. You can then re-add the wallet following the activation process if necessary.
